4 Paws for Whit

Funding an Autism Assistance dog

Welcome!

We'd like to thank you in advance for taking the time to learn about Whit and our journey to get him an Autism Assistance dog. We have tons of things we'd love to tell you about our son, how he gives the biggest, best hugs in the entire world, how he brightens up a room when he enters and how he loves anything that has to do with trains. Whit also has Autism and as part of his condition has a tendency to find himself in often dangerous situations. He doesn't have a concept of what danger really is.

We have just begun our fundraising journey to pair Whit with an Autism Assistance dog to protect him from these dangerous situations, comfort him when he would otherwise resort to self injury during a meltdown, and also to allow him to socialize and communicate more easily. Whit was approved for placement with an Autism Assistance dog through the non profit organization 4 Paws for Ability. In order to make this placement, we need to raise funds to cover part of the training process, $13000. There are other organizations that train assistance dogs as well but many have waiting lists that extend 3-5 years. We want to ensure Whit is safe now. What price would you put on the safety of your children?

We realize none of us can be successful in life without the help of others and the same is true of this endeavor to raise $13000. We need the help of our friends, family, colleagues, community and even new acquaintances who we may have never met in person. We trust that we can count on you to help us out in any way you can. We realize that not everyone is in a position where they can give a donation of hundreds of dollars and we don't expect that, but whatever gift you can give, please do so, even if that isn't a financial donation, but words of encouragement to stay the course and to not give up hope.

Thank you again for coming this far and we look forward to updating you on our progress along this journey with your help.
